Sad but true. This way of dealing with calamities will never change.

Thanks for the comments Red Strawberry, RJoshi, NN and Ekta ...

I'm not sure whether the media is enabling us to get more sensitive about these issues by showing us vivid images of tragedy in the real world ... Or if the constant bombardment of visuals is just dehumanizing such disasters ... In this age of technical possibilities, Media responisibility has a bigger role to play than ever before ...

A very emotional and touching blog.
Only numbers? Every number has it's own tale. Each and evey life lost....affects atleast half a dozen more...and more...and more...
No it is not only a number.

Baba Yaga, I was wondering why you hadn't posted this since you had written it immediately after the Tsunami and yesterday was the anniversary. Forgot that we are a day ahead.....anyway  a comprehensive  and touching blog. It was worth spending two minutes reading it. Somehow felt like I was observing a two-minute silence for the victims. Good and keep it up

Hey Baba,

Yep humanity is also put in numbers..the cause of all this is sanity is lost somewhere...
It is the greed that makes this gory picture so bright n moving..
But ye kno wen people die...these days no heart cries...
The irony is that people have lost humanity

lets try to b human first
Only numbers is the thing that goes on..coz numbers are those dead things that can never give life...?
a heart wrenching post...

 The Ballad Of  Sage  Yage

More Crocodile Tears shed

Year after Year

Meet Bono the boner

Sheds tears and concern

Rubs shoulders at G7 summits

A kind of traveling minstrel in a one-man mistrel show.
He knows the folks in Niger land who know the story

He knows the local customs and he drinks a lot of tea,
So tells world Leaders that he’ll go,

He wud ask on bended knee

Aid & Charity

Mostly used for War and Tyranny

By African warlords

Who like Tsunami

Knows how to phantom strike

In the Dark Continent

Spreading death disease

And civil strife..

Now we have a new baby faced Bono

Who deletes those who can’t?

Be charitable with

His long winded takes

Mams lil boy spinning
Bacha prose evoking sympathy
Oh here he comes with a sycthe
Cutting Weeding Chopping deleting
all that is not for him

It is strange how matters of social welfare enter our conscience only when a disaster occurs ... Don't like to sound gloomy, but people are dying everyday ... More than 150,000 people died due to the Tsunami ... But did you know that over 165,000 people die every month because of Malaria? ... The figure is 240,000 per month for AIDS ... Not that nothing is being done about it - There are millions of dollars being donated regularly for these causes too ... But the figures remain there - in the hundreds of millions ...

The Africa Malaria Report estimates that $ 1 Billion a year is required to significantly reduce the problem of Malaria ... Currently approximately $200 MM is being spent annualy to combat malaria in Africa (a rise from past years, but still not enough) ... The US spends $1.5 Billion dollars a week in Iraq ... What this means is that the most powerful nation in the world spends more to kill people than to save them ... If it gives to Africa what it spends in Iraq for 2 weeks, within 3 years the problem of Malaria will be significantly reduced ...
