Great blog! The subject most serious, the style innovative, the flow fantastic.
Iraq war, the hypocracy and the lies....and above all the loves lost this very second....a very ugly truth.

S DDDDDDDDD ... I agree the blog is lengthy ... I had written it over a period of one week! ... Next time I guess I'll post such long blogs in installments ... Or better still, post smaller blogs! ...

NN ... Well, I am honoured by Meenakshi gracing this blog with her presence! ... And about taking things in the right spirit, I wouldn't worry about it ... I seemed to have inherited that trait from my Mom! ...

Mulliner, Naad, bilingual and Kanchan ... Thanks for your gracious comments! ... I'll keep posting my thoughts regulary here ... Sulekha can get very addictive! ...

Ami Tex ... I did not mention it in my previous comment to you, but I missed the point you were trying to make in your comments ... Are you saying that the death toll due to the Iraq war is not as high as the world makes it out to be? ... Are were you just going through my blog with a fine-toothed comb and correcting any factual errors you came across? ... This seems to be a very popular hobby on the blogosphere! ...

Ami Tex ...

I followed the link you stated in your comment and got to this site - http://www.iraqbodycount.net/database/

Now this site gives the body count of all CIVILIAN deaths since the war to be in the range of 50,000 ... The Non-Civillian death count, in my assumption, would be higher ...

There was another indepedent study conducted in collaboration with MIT which put the deaths in Iraq due to the war at 600,000 - http://i.a.cnn.net/cnn/2006/images/10/11/human.cost.of.war.pdf

The point I was trying to make was that the human cost of the war was tremendous for Iraq ... Now if you're the kind of person who is particular about exact figures and numbers, I apologize ... Please tell me the number you want me to place on my blog and I'll edit the blog to replace the 100,000 figure ...

Hello Baba Yaga

I question total death count  you mention...100,000 due to american occupation and war in Iraq.

How did you arrive at this number?

[your blog... "Been almost four years since the Americans rained down upon Iraq ... A long and hard journey it has been for the people of Iraq ... The toppling of a government, the death of100,000 Iraqis, the leveling of towns, the cruel humiliation of prisoners ... And the continuous threat of death and torture around the corner ... Even though it is the international kidnappings which hog the limelight, it is estimated that over 90% of the kidnapped victims are Iraqis ... And perhaps the most glaring failure of this war is the following fact - A strong, secular (albeit authoritarian) government with no telerance for religious extremism has been converted to a haven for terrorists in the middle east ..."]

Below is a link to Iraqi casualties in this war. In weblink it clearly acknowledged that.....

"This is not a complete list, nor can we verify these totals. This is simply a compilation of deaths reported by news agencies. Actual totals for Iraqi deaths are much higher than the numbers recorded on this site. "

Total Iraqi death count according to this website is in region of 1,250 ....

American & Allied forces death counts have been much larger, you can see them in other tables compiled in this website.

Again, would you care to explain how you came up with 100,000 Iraqi casualties in last 5yrs of this war?

Baba Yaga:

You are one heck of a writer.  Very good one.  I guess the Oscar should have been called as 'Fauxpaxcars'.  The venue should have been Pentagon, the red carpet should have USS Lincoln, the  jury should have been Bush Jr. Blair, Blair-Bush, Bush-Blair.

Keep posting and stirring the deads!

Cheers
